Please only sign up if you are in a good space\, comfortable with ambiguity\, and can bring in a mood of curiosity. \n\n\n\n\nAbout this session\n\n\n\nWhy do businesses race to develop AI even when many warn us of serious consequences? What makes kids (or parents!) push themselves to the limit with so many hours into studies\, tuition and enrichment classes even when they are obviously exhausted? Why do nations face stalemate in climate change conversations even after so many discussions? \n\n\n\nThere seems to be so much human activity and effort to resolve many of the challenges we face on a global\, regional\, national\, societal and even individual level. Yet\, there also seems to be so little movement and improvement. Something just isn’t working despite our best efforts and you want to understand why.In this session\, we will be exploring the common\, underlying system dynamics and incentives that drive many of the wicked problems we are experiencing and contributing to\, without even us knowing. The concepts we will cover are an introduction into the work of Nate Hagens\, Daniel Schmachtenberger and Ian McGilchrist. \n\n\n\nTogether we will: \n\n\n\n\nIdentify the differences between the permacrisis\, polycrisis and metacrisis.\n\n\n\nUnderstand key drivers of behaviour common across all types of crises.\n\n\n\nExplore how these drivers repeat themselves in areas that affect our lives in big and small\, direct and indirect ways\, such as social media\, school\, weapons of mass destruction\, AI\, businesses and politics.\n\n\n\nConsider: What is the wisest thing we can do now?\n\n\n\n\nLunch is included\, and we’re thrilled to share that it will feature a vibrant\, plant-powered twist on a beloved classic—vegan nasi lemak. SUMMARY:From Crisis to Clarity: Understanding our Energy Blindness
DESCRIPTION:In this watch party session\, we will be viewing segments of Nate Hagen’s videos\, pause periodically for reflections and have sense-making discussions about what is happening in the worlds we live in. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTRIGGER WARNING: This session is part of follow-up series on the permacrisis\, polycrisis and metacrisis. The discussion and concepts covered may make you feel overwhelmed\, depressive and/or anxious. Please only sign up if you are in a good space\, comfortable with ambiguity\, and can bring in a mood of curiosity. \n\n\n\n\nAbout this session\n\n\n\nWhat does it mean to be\, in Nate Hagen’s words\, energy blind? What is our relationship with energy? What are the impacts and implications on our futures? \n\n\n\nNate is the Director of The Institute for the Study of Energy & Our Future (ISEOF) and hosts The Great Simplification podcast\, where he has conversations with experts in energy\, ecology\, government\, technology\, and the economy to provide a systemic view of the world around us. \n\n\n\nIn this watch party session\, we will be viewing segments of Nate’s videos\, pause periodically for reflections and have sense-making discussions about what is happening in the worlds we live in. \n\n\n\nWe also invite Energy CoLab as a resource and discussion partner to be part of the conversation to share their thoughts and reflections. \n\n\n\nTogether we will: \n\n\n\n\nIdentify the missing perspectives around energy creation and usage.\n\n\n\nUnderstand how money and debt are part of the energy blindness.\n\n\n\nDiscuss the nature of the Superorganism that’s emerging.\n\n\n\nCreate space to process and share what the impact is on you.\n\n\n\n\nA light dinner (pizza party!) will be provided before the session starts. \n\n\n\nThis session is for those who…\n\n\n\n\nAre curious about how energy ecosystem impacts us and the way we live\n\n\n\nAre interested to widen their understanding of the polycrisis or metacrisis\n\n\n\nHave encountered the thought leadership of Nate Hagens and want to meet up with fellow concerned citizens\n\n\n\n\nBrief Programme\n\n\n\n\n	\n \n 6:30pm\n Dinner ready\n \n \n 7pm\n Watch party starts\n \n \n \n 9pm\n Close\n \n \n	\n	\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOur Resource Partner:\n\n\n\nEnergy CoLab is a youth-led collective that brings together research\, art and education to translate complex energy and climate issues into accessible\, participatory learning experiences\, with the aim of advancing a more just and responsible energy transition in Singapore and across Southeast Asia.Find out more about Energy CoLab \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFrequently Asked Questions\n\n\n\n\nIs this a lecture? The session will be a combination of watching videos\, small group discussions and whole group sharing.\n\n\n\nI can’t make it for this session. Will there be another run? Please follow us on our social media channels (LinkedIn\, Instagram) to get updated should we run future sessions.\n\n\n\nI attended Studio Dojo’s ‘Crisis To Clarity’ or ‘The World is in a Mess’ session at the Creating Narratives For Change 2024\, how does this session differ from that? Those sessions provide a broad overview of the polycrisis and metacrisis. In this evening event\, we will zoom into specifically understanding the world’s energy ecosystem and how it contributes to the global challenges we are facing.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDate & Time4 February 2026\, Wednesday6.30PM to 9PM \n\n\n\n\n\nFormatEvening session \n\n\n\nLocationCommon Ground21 Bedok North Street 1Singapore 469659+ Google Map

SUMMARY:Futures Masterclass: CLA & Conflict Transformation
DESCRIPTION:With Professor Sohail Inayatullah and Dr Ivana Milojevic \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Masterclass\n\n\n\nJoin Studio Dojo as we host world-renowned futurists Professor Sohail Inayatullah and Dr. Ivana Milojevic in a transformative Futures and Foresight masterclass. \n\n\n\nParticipants will get to familiarise themselves with two key perspectives: \n\n\n\n\nCausal Layered Analysis (CLA)\, one of the most innovative and popular approaches in futures studies\, foresight\, and personal transformation developed by Prof Sohail.\n\n\n\nDr Ivana Milojevic will share how we can use the future as a resource to minimise personal and professional conflicts already occurring\, prevent it from happening in the future\, and how to repair relationships after conflicts have taken place.\n\n\n\n\nThe masterclass will consist of presentations\, case studies and interactive sessions allowing participants to experiment with these approaches and the associated methodology. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCausal Layered Analysis\n\n\n\nCLA assumes four levels of reality\, each equally important: \n\n\n\n\nAnalyses from multiple perspectives – creates a map of positions at all four layers. Helps move away from worldview blindness.\n\n\n\nDeconstructs the dominant or business and usual understanding and then allows for a reconstruction of alternative futures.\n\n\n\nEnsures that the new narrative is accompanied by new measures (litanies) as well as required system changes to ensure robustness of implementation strategy.\n\n\n\nIdentifies where are the resistors and resistances to change and what and where are the possibilities of transformation.\n\n\n\nEnsures that the new preferred future is inclusive of the disowned strategy.\n\n\n\n\nFinally\, CLA is used as a tool for people to understand their own story about the future\, and their role in the foresight process. This is critical in helping people gain agency\, in the ability to understand\, manage\, and shape personal futures. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nConflict Transformation Futures\n\n\n\nConflict is everywhere. \n\n\n\nEven in the most loving of families\, and in the most supportive of communities\, there is conflict. People often avoid conflict because they are scared of it\, and or do not have appropriate skills to address it. But conflict can be a wonderful opportunity to get to the next level of our relationships\, to create positive social change\, to improve our communities and societies\, and that is all possible if we know how to deal with conflict constructively. Too often\, we deal with conflict destructively\, which means that instead of transforming it to create something new; a different and better future\, we actually go towards the root of violence. \n\n\n\nWhen we look at the past\, we get one approach. But when we go into the future which is much more open\, we are in a much better position to deal with the conflict in the present moment. We will utilise the future as a resource to transform conflict in the present moment. Conflict can be an opportunity to create something novel\, something different\, and in that sense\, we are going to look at where we want to go rather than where we have been. \n\n\n\nVisit Metafuture School for more information. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat You’ll Learn\n\n\n\n\nAn overview of the Six Pillars approach to Futures\n\n\n\nA conceptual and embodied understanding of Causal Layered Analysis and its use in analysing and resolving systemic\, organisational and personal issues\n\n\n\nCapacity to analyse and develop the preferred vision and policy for institutions and organisations\n\n\n\nCapacity to use futures methods to better understand probable\, possible and preferred futures\n\n\n\nHow to use the future to help you resolve inner and outer conflicts in your personal and professional life\n\n\n\nCapacity to use conflict constructively to create preferred futures\n\n\n\nLinking Conflict with Causal Layered Analysis\n\n\n\nCase studies from conflict transformational futures at personal\, organisational\, and institutional levels will be presented\n\n\n\n\nThis is for you if you…\n\n\n\n\nWould like to get an introduction to Futures Thinking.\n\n\n\nAre already familiar with Futures and Foresight and would like to deep dive into CLA to enrich your own toolbox with a structured\, proven and innovative approach.\n\n\n\nAre looking to develop new strategies and policies in organisations\, institutions and communities.\n\n\n\nWant experienced practitioners to help guide your exploration of your own specific organisational contexts and situations of conflict.\n\n\n\nAre curious to learn from two leading figures in the domain of Futures.\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Trainers\n\n\n\n\n\nProfessor Sohail Inayatullah\n\n\n\nA political scientist and futurist\, Sohail is the UNESCO Chair in Futures Studies at the Sejahtera Centre for Sustainability and Humanity\, IIUM\, Malaysia. SUMMARY:Design Dough: Let's Talk About Imposter Syndrome
DESCRIPTION:Understanding Imposter Syndrome through a different lens \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\n\n“I am not good enough.” \n\n\n\nAt least once in our lives\, this thought bubbles up for us\, whether you’re a fresh grad joining your first workplace\, an experienced team lead managing a new team\, or the parent of a newborn child. This phenomenon of constant self-doubt over your abilities is known as Imposter Syndrome (IS). It’s a familiar experience\, but how much do we really know about it? \n\n\n\nOur Studio Dojo team has been interested in this phenomenon and carried out a study to understand IS better. We are intrigued by the seeming incongruence between the fact that IS is an experience faced by many\, and yet solutions often focus on the individuals to take actions. We continue to explore the question: What are other ways we can look at it\, instead of thinking we are the problem to be fixed? \n\n\n\nJoin us for Let’s Talk About Imposter Syndrome\, a free community event on 18 April 2024 (Thu). Using interactive activities\, you will share and learn more about diverse experiences of IS from others in the room\, hear our team’s sharing of findings from our study\, and collectively explore larger contextual\, socio-cultural factors that may have contributed to our IS experiences. \n\n\n\nDinner will be provided. \n\n\n\nAbout Design Dough\n\n\n\nDesign Dough was created with the intention to bring designers and changemakers closer\, to grow and support each other within the community. There is an intriguing quality to doughs\, constantly being kneaded and left to rise\, in the process of evolving into something with unlimited possibilities. Hence\, the name Design Dough was born. \n\n\n\nRead about what happened in our earlier Design Dough events: \n\n\n\n\nUnderstanding and Working with Resistance\n\n\n\nDesign Dough: Let’s Talk about Blind Spots\n\n\n\nDesigners in a Pandemic: Holding Space for Unsaid Conversations\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDate & Time18 April 2024\, Thursday7.30PM to 9.30PM \n\n\n\n\n\nLocation Common Ground 21 Bedok North Street 1 Singapore 469659 + Google Map \n\n\n\nFormatIn-person Workshop \n\n\n\nTicket TypesStandard: FREE

SUMMARY:Clay and Consciousness
DESCRIPTION:A reflective pottery session with Studio Dojo \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this Session\n\n\n\nHow do I feel about myself? What is the present moment inviting me to notice? What is troubling me these days that I haven’t given myself time to feel? \n\n\n\nHow often do we give ourselves the time and space to wonder these questions? And for those of us who do\, do we pay attention to our mind-body connection and the wisdom it has to offer? \n\n\n\nIf such questions interest you\, join Studio Dojo for a morning of pottery and guided reflection. In the comfort of an intimate small group\, our friends from School of Clay Arts will be teaching us the pottery technique of handbuilding. As our hands play with the clay\, we will also be curious and reflect on the relationship we have with ourselves. We will leave with a piece of artwork\, and a deeper sensing of ourselves. \n\n\n\nLunch will be included in the last hour of the session. To minimise food waste\, please let us know during your registration\, if you wish to opt out of lunch. You may indicate your dietary restrictions via the registration form too. \n\n\n\nAbout School of Clay Arts\n\n\n\nSchool of Clay Arts (est. 2016) is a ceramic studio dedicated to developing the craft and practice of pottery that inspires and guides the development of the self. They have a strong focus on developing skills-based ceramic classes for beginners and intermediate practitioners who want a deeper engagement with clay. \n\n\n\nThey coalesce contemporary values through the sustainable art of pottery. In blending mindfulness practices with their structured guidance\, they help to elevate the self-awareness in individuals through fun\, transformational and authentic pottery activities. \n\n\n\n\nAbout the Facilitators\n\n\n\n\n\nMuhd Nur Aliff\n\n\n\nLEAD FACILITATOR\n\n\n\nAs an ontological coach\, Aliff practises the delicate dance of challenging and supporting others who are seeking changes in their worlds. The dance lies in the questions he asks: to provoke their current ways of being and in the next breath\, to make their ambitions feel attainable to them. \n\n\n\nHe believes that with greater self-awareness\, we can then choose how we want to show up. His interests in human development\, research and facilitation complement his ongoing work of creating spaces that invite us all to reflect. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHong Khai Seng\n\n\n\nSUPPORT FACILITATOR\n\n\n\nAs a design coach\, some of Khai Seng’s wide-ranging interests are in the fields of facilitation\, adult learning\, human development and Integral Coaching. He is always looking to experiment with new ways to support people\, connect communities\, and understand ourselves in ever-deepening ways. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDate & Time6 April 2024\, Saturday9AM to 1PM \n\n\n\n\n\nLocation Common Ground 21 Bedok North Street 1 Singapore 469659 + Google Map \n\n\n\nFormatHalf-day\, In-person Session \n\n\n\nTicket TypesStandard: S$25

SUMMARY:Unconventional Facilitation: Participatory Learning Through Forum Theatre
DESCRIPTION:About this Masterclass\n\n\n\nThe increasingly complex and ambiguous world we live in today calls for a shift away from what we learn to how we learn. Learners have to be active participants\, capable of contributing to their learning and voicing out what they know and need. \n\n\n\nA key way to foster active participation is through participatory learning design\, a technique that involves stakeholders and learners directly in designing the learning experience. It generates a sense of co-ownership and meaningful engagement early in the process. The value of participatory learning design is not in the outcome; it is the true learning that happens in the co-creation process. \n\n\n\nThis one-day masterclass introduces the essentials and practice of participatory learning design with an unconventional twist: the use of Forum Theatre-based scenarios. By making space for learners to meet and co-create playful learning scenarios\, Forum Theatre effectively generates grassroots-level engagement and participation. \n\n\n\nWhat You’ll Learn\n\n\n\nThe essentials and practice of participatory design\, non-informative education\, and meaningful engagement\, including: \n\n\n\nWorking with space\, place\, and peopleLeveraging grassroots engagement for learningCasting the forum and the commons as participants\, and co-designing Forum Theatre scenariosBraving uncertainties with specActor plays\n\n\n\nThis is for you if:\n\n\n\nYou are a qualitative researcher\, designer\, facilitator\, educator\, trainer\, Agile coach\, Scrum Master\, community architect\, social worker\, actor (or you are just yourself and this sounds like something you’d like to do)You want a different perspective on how to teach/ facilitate or on how people learnYou hope to transform teaching and learning in your organisation\, and are looking for ways to build up a good caseYou work with people and groups and want to find ways to make your work strongerYou are open to non-conventional learning design or using improv and theatre formats in your work\, but are not sure where to start\n\n\n\nAbout Unconventional Facilitation\n\n\n\nUnconventional Facilitation is a series of events and masterclasses hosted by Studio Dojo in collaboration with trainer Francis Laleman. SUMMARY:Unconventional Facilitation: Awareness Design and Exformative Play
DESCRIPTION:About the Masterclass\n\n\n\nThis is the post-information age. Search engines\, online encyclopaedias\, and AI technologies are enabling us to access and create information with more ease and speed than before. Human minds no longer need to be the repository for facts and information. \n\n\n\nIn this world\, conventional modes of learning that pass knowledge from teacher to learner are no longer enough. How do we design and facilitate relevant\, effective learning experiences for these changing needs? How do we move away from teaching to truly focus on learning? \n\n\n\nA return to the essence of learning—interacting with each other and with our environments—is what makes the difference. \n\n\n\nIn this one-day masterclass\, you will learn to facilitate collective learning experiences through techniques that introduce elements of play and an awareness of space and people. \n\n\n\nWhat You’ll Learn \n\n\n\nThe essentials and practice of exformative design\, non-informative education\, and play-based learning\, including: \n\n\n\nWorking with space and place as factors contributing to learningWorking with people and groups as a driving factor for learning resultsGamesercises (inspired by theatre practitioner and drama theorist Augusto Boal) and other group-assessing formats\n\n\n\nThis is for you if: \n\n\n\nYou are a designer\, facilitator\, educator\, trainer\, Agile coach\, Scrum Master\, community architect\, social worker\, actor (or you are just yourself and this sounds like something you’d like to do)You want a different perspective on how to teach/ facilitate or on how people learnYou hope to transform teaching and learning in your organisation\, and are looking for ways to build up a good caseYou work with people and groups and want to find ways to make your work strongerYou are open to non-conventional learning design\, but are not sure where to start\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Trainer\n\n\n\n\n\nFrancis Laleman\n\n\n\nFOUNDER\, AGILE FACILITATION BEYOND BORDERS\n\n\n\nFrancis is a designer\, writer\, educationist\, and facilitator. SUMMARY:Unconventional Facilitation: Gamesercises
DESCRIPTION:About the session\n\n\n\nThis is the post-information age. Search engines\, online encyclopaedias\, and AI technologies are enabling us to access and create information with more ease and speed than before. In this world\, human minds no longer need to be the repository for facts and information. \n\n\n\nWhat then do we need from our learning experiences and education\, which has for too long focused on providing information through memory work and rote learning? And how do we design for these changing learning needs? \n\n\n\nLearning to interact with each other and with our environments may be what makes the difference in facilitation next. \n\n\n\nJoin us for Unconventional Facilitation: Gamesercises as we return to the essence of learning—a wisdom that we have always known\, but have long forgotten. The concept of Gamesercises takes inspiration from Augusto Boal\, a Brazilian theatre practitioner and drama theorist. \n\n\n\nWhat You Will Experience \n\n\n\n Here’s what will happen\, in seven steps: \n\n\n\n     First things first: playing with space     Then the next thing: awareness     All together and everything at the same time.      Playfully there.     Review.     Retrospective.     Time for some social space. \n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThis session will be run by Francis Laleman from Agile Facilitation Beyond Borders and hosted by Studio Dojo. Francis is a designer\, writer\, educationist\, and facilitator. For nearly twenty years\, he lived in India and Sri Lanka – trying to be a monk\, aspiring to be a Sanskrit teacher\, and writing the first few sentences of a good one hundred of imaginary books. \n\n\n\nCome for a 2-hour taster session where you will experience facilitation exercises that help you learn how to respond to space and each other playfully. This session is a preview of a one-day Masterclass to be conducted by Studio Dojo in November 2023. \n\n\n\nRegister for free and connect with our community. Light snacks will be provided! \n\n\n\n\n\nDate & Time12 October 2023\, Thursday7.30PM to 9.30PM \n\n\n\n\n\nLocation Common Ground 21 Bedok North Street 1 Singapore 469659 + Google Map \n\n\n\nFormatIn-person Workshop \n\n\n\nTicket TypesStandard: FREE

SUMMARY:Design Dough: Let's Talk about Resistance
DESCRIPTION:Understanding and Managing Resistance \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\n\nResistance is healthy. No\, really. It tells you what matters to you\, and the person you are speaking with.Recall the times when you were \n\n\n\nconfronted by aggressive and challenging behaviours;saying ‘yes’ but actually meaning ‘no’;feeling unease in a conversation that was going nowhere.\n\n\n\nYou might have felt annoyed\, puzzled\, and frustrated – and not yet had the skills to process and address the situation. Most of us shove it aside. Some choose not to notice it at all. But unpacking the resistance can pave the way to richer relationships\, effective partnerships\, and a more fulfilling environment at work and at home. \n\n\n\n“Our job is not to ‘overcome’ or argue with resistance\, but to notice and understand.”\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n– Peter Block\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPartnering with The Flame Centre\, join us on our 3rd iteration of Design Dough\, where we unpack our experiences of resistance\, take away practical steps to manage resistances better and connect with others seeking growth. \n\n\n\nDinner will be provided. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Design Dough\n\n\n\nDesign Dough was created with the intention to bring designers closer\, to grow and support each other within the design community. There is an intriguing quality to doughs\, constantly being kneaded and left to rise\, in the process of evolving into something with unlimited possibilities\, hence the name Design Dough was born. \n\n\n\nRead about what happened in our earlier Design Dough events: \n\n\n\nDesigners in a Pandemic: Holding Space for Unsaid ConversationsDesign Dough: Let’s Talk about Blind Spots\n\n\n\n\n\nDate & Time5 July 2023\, Wednesday7.30PM to 9.30PM \n\n\n\n\n\nLocation Common Ground 21 Bedok North Street 1 Singapore 469659 + Google Map \n\n\n\nFormatIn-person Workshop \n\n\n\nTicket TypesStandard: FREE

SUMMARY:Design Dough: Let's Talk about Blind Spots
DESCRIPTION:How to discover and deal with your blind spots \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this unConference\n\n\n\nPersonal growth isn’t as straightforward as self-help books and gurus say it is.This is because we have blind spots that we are not aware of. And it is often these blindspots that are holding us back\, because… we don’t even know they are there! And that is where we stumble\, without realising. Here’s a thought experiment for you. Think back to the last time someone pointed out a blindspot of yours\, which caused you to gain an insight and make a significant change. Remember that “ah ha!” feeling? That was the insight of something that you were previously blind to\, but which you now saw.Join us for an unConference on blindspots and growth\, to discuss what it means to discover and deal with one’s blindspots\, and to connect with others seeking growth.Light drinks and snacks will be provided. \n\n\n\nAbout Design Dough\n\n\n\nDesign Dough was created with the intention to bring designers and changemakers closer\, to grow and support each other within the community.
